October 18: Police in Assam have confirmed the death of a 54 year old Bhutanese man who was killed on the spot when the bus he was travelling in toppled in Assam. The accident took place at Bejini in Assam around 22 kilometers from Bogaigong on Sunday.
While initial reports said that a man had died in the accident, information provided by the injured passengers to Gelephu police on the day of the accident said no Bhutanese passengers had died in the accident.
Later when the deceased was taken for post mortem at a hospital in Kokrajhar, Assam police found a smashed mobile phone in the shirt and upon checking the SIM card, confirmed that the deceased was a Bhutanese.
The deceased was on a business trip to Rangia in Assam. Our reporter Sonam Rinchen says the dead body has been handed over to the relatives yesterday.
Meanwhile two other Bhutanese who were admitted to the Gelephu hospital are reported to be in stable conditions. |
