August 27: A 33-year-old man has been electrocuted in Monggar. The incident occurred near the police camp at around 7:20 pm on Monday evening.
He was immediately referred to the Monggar Regional Referral Hospital but died shortly afterwards.
Our reporter Tshering Jamtsho says there was power black out at Gyelposhing on Monday.
A line man had gone to check the transformer after he received complaints from residents.
He said the deceased came along with a friend offering to help.
The line man told our reporter that he declined his help but despite his refusal, the deceased climbed an electric pole.
The friend of the deceased said he saw the deceased unwinding a twisted wire. He was electrocuted while trying to unwind the twisted wire.
Meanwhile a 13-year-old girl has been kept under medical observation in Samtse General Hospital after she was struck by lightening on Sunday.
The girl was brought to the hospital unconscious. Doctors said the girl did not come into direct contact with the lightening and her injuries are not serious.
The lightening also damaged several television sets, refrigerators and telephones. Two cows have also been electrocuted at Jitti Tar under Sipsu geog. The incident occurred at around 4:00 am on Monday when strong winds snapped the wire of the pole on which one of the cows was tied.
The current also killed the other cow which was tied nearby.
