Man critically injured by an arrow

January 28: A 44-year-old man from Sisina in Thimphu has been admitted in the intensive care unit of the national referral hospital after he was hit by an arrow. Doctors described his condition as critical. The mishap happened at around 10 am this morning. He was brought to the national referral hospital around 12 noon.

Dr. Tashi Tenzin a neurosurgeon with the hospital said the man has been hit by an arrow above the left eye piercing deep into the brain. He said it has caused excessive bleeding and damaged the brain severely.

Dr. Tashi Tenzin said the arrow had been removed when the man was brought to the hospital. He said it is advisable not to remove the arrow. He said the damage would be less severe if the arrow is removed surgically in the hospital.
