June 4: A 28-year-old man from Changedaphu in Thimphu has been arrested in connection with burglary and arson which occurred last week. It took place at around 11 pm at a residential house in Motithang in Thimphu.

A police spokesperson said the suspect entered the residence whose occupants were away and stole Thai Bhatt worth Nu. 7,000, gold ornaments, a camera and a handy-cam. He then reportedly set the house on fire to wipe out evidence from the crime scene.

All the stolen items have been recovered but all the belongings inside the house were damaged by the fire.

The house was also partially damaged though police fire fighters managed to save the house from being gutted by the fire.
