Man arrested for allegedly murdering wife

July 19: Police in Haa have apprehended a man in his sixties who allegedly murdered his wife following a quarrel between the couple.

The woman who was also in her sixties died at the Bali BHU on Tuesday. The couple was from Yangthang village under Bji geog.

The Bji Gup Sonam Dorji said he was informed about the incident by the Tshogpa on Sunday. On Monday, the Gup and the Tshogpa went looking for the man in Haa town but could not trace him.

Later on Tuesday, the deceased complained of severe backache and was brought to the Bali BHU by her daughter and relatives.

Dr. Narbardhur Rai of Bali BHU told BBS that the deceased was brought to the hospital at around 11 am on Tuesday. He said she was dead by the time she had reached the hospital.

Dr. Narbadhur who conducted the medical examination confirmed that it was a case of domestic violence. He told BBS that the deceased had suffered severe chest injuries and that seven of her ribs were broken. Her face and eyes were also bruised.

The doctor was informed by the victim’s daughter that her mother was beaten by her father.

The case is under investigation.
