September 1: The Samdrup Jongkhar-Trashigang highway is getting blocked often by landslides. Our reporter Pema Samdrup says often people have to wait for hours for the landslides to be cleared.

On Saturday several landslides were cleared between Samdrup Jongkhar and Trashigang and Samdrup Jongkhar and Samdrup Choiling.

DANTAK officials told BBS that there were around 20 small landslides on the Samdrup Jongkhar-Trashigang highway. Over 400 workers and several machines were deployed to clear the landslides. There were however no reports of major road blocks on the highway.

Our reporter Pema Samdrup said Morong, about 50 kilometers from Samdrup Jongkhar is prone to landslides and it is become risky to travelers.

Travelers told our reporter that they have to wait several hours for the road blocks to be cleared.

Between Samdrup Jongkhar and Samdrup Choiling highway, there were around 20 landslides at various places.

The Department of Roads in Deothang says the road blocks at Marthang are posing a risk to the travelers. He told our reporter that they have deployed men and machine to clear the landslides.
