July 24: With the summer at its peak, people in the southern parts of the country are battling against the scorching heat. Their only respite comes from the rain. But this doesn’t come without its own share of problem.
In Sarpang, torrential rains triggered landslides disrupting road communications.
Our reporter Sonam Rinchen says the landslides have blocked the road between Gelephu and Sarpang and Zhemgang at several points.
On Monday afternoon, several vehicles heading towards Pelrithang and Sarpang from Gelephu were stranded for hours due to a road block at Shetikhari. The road was filled with sand and debris. It took several hours for the laborers to clear the block.
The passenger bus from Gelephu to Zhemgang had to return halfway. Students and teachers of Pelrithang were not able to go to school due to the block.
