Lack of housing affects health service delivery at Norbuling, Sarpang
August 18: Lack of staff quarter at the Norbuling Basic Health Unit in Sarpang is a major problem faced by the health staff in providing services to the people on time.
Health workers working at the Norbuling BHU in Sarpang live in far away places. This they said is a major constraint in providing health services to the people especially during the emergency.
The Health Assistant Melam Dorji said that he is currently using the the Maternal and Child Health (MCH) as his quarter so that he can attend to emergency patients.
However three other staff working at the BHU live about an hour to half an hour walking distance from the BHU.
They said finding a quarter near the BHU is difficult as most of the houses there are occupied by school teachers working in the Middle Secondary School located near the BHU.
They said the problem gets worse during the rainy season.
Melam Dorji says the matter has been put up to the 76th session of GYT earlier this year. It could not be taken up as there were other priority development works that had to be taken up first.
The Gup of the geog Sangay Tshering told our reporter that the staff quarter will definitely be constructed during the 10th five year plan.
