Kengkhar-Weringla constituency receives 648 postal ballots of 673 issued

March 23:
Election Officials at Kengkhar-Weringla constituency in Monggar have started counting the postal ballot envelopes yesterday.

Kengkhar-Weringla constituency is located three days walk from Kurichu in Monggar. The Dzongkhag has three constituencies. The other two constituencies are Dremitse-Ngatshang and Monggar.

Envelope A of the postal ballot contains the identity of the voter and Envelope B contains the vote. Maintaining two envelopes will ensure that even Election Officials who handle the postal ballots will not know who you have voted for.

Our reporter Wangchuk Tobgyel says the envelopes were opened in the presence of the party representatives and other Election Officials.

The Returning Officer of Kengkhar-Weringla constituency Jamba Tobden said after opening envelope A, envelope B which contains the vote will be placed in a sealed ballot box. He said the postal ballots will be rejected if envelope B is not sealed or if the identification declaration certificate in envelope A is missing or it has been put in the wrong envelope.

Jamba Tobden said they have received 648 postal ballots till today. They issued 673 postal ballots. More than 1,000 people had applied for postal ballots.

The constituency has 28 polling stations and 8,012 registered voters.
