June 9: About 1,700 job vacancies were advertised at the job fair which ended yesterday.

Many youth who attended the job fair have applied for these job vacancies. In some cases selection interviews were conducted on the spot.

900 job seekers will be recruited immediately.

The head of the employment services division Kesang said the ministry will ensure that recruitments are completed within this month alone.

Five companies including Bhutan Ferro Always Limited, Bhutan Carbide and Chemicals Limited, and Bhutan Post conducted interviews for job seekers yesterday. They will recruit about 30 students.

Last year, 1,150 job vacancies were announced at the job fair. More than 400 youth were given jobs on the spot.

Apart from job vacancies, training opportunities are also advertised at the fair. 415 job seekers have applied for training for medical transcription, rural development training center, call center, and private institution.

About 2,500 job seekers attended the two day job fair.
