Jangchub chorten vandalized in Gyetsa, Bumthang

January 27: A Jangchub chorten has been vandalized in Gyetsa, Bumthang. It is not known when the chorten was vandalized.

Villagers came to know about the incident only January 26 and informed police immediately.

Our reporter Tandin Phuntsho says two holes were dug into the chorten. 26 items including zee or cats eye, silver earrings and old coins dating back to the 1950’s were left behind. The recovered nangtens were handed over to the village tshogpa.

This is the first such incident this year in Bumthang and the police are investigating the case.

The chorten was built some 25 years ago.
