Internet on mobile phones

April 6: B-Mobile users can now browse the internet using their mobile phones. The trial service was launched yesterday.

During the trial, it will be available only to select subscribers like 50 highest paying customers, VVIPs, Corporate and Business CEOs and IT personnel.

It will be formally launched on 5th May. Then all subscribers who want the service can access the World Wide Web on their phones in all the 20 Dzongkhags where B-mobile network coverage is available.

During the trial run, B-mobile expects to receive feedback from the users. The General Manager of B-mobile Tandin Wangchuk says the service will be useful for people who are always on move and needs access to the Net.

B-mobile will also be launching a service which will enable customers to see each other when they converse from April 21. For that subscribers will need phones which support the service.

To access the net on laptop, users will have to buy USB data modems or personal computer memory cards. B-mobile has not fixed the subscription rates for these services.

Officials said they will consider the affordability, the average price in the region and the cost of service delivery.
