Intel Corporation to provide computers for schools


February 27: In a move to promote Information and Communication Technologies in Schools, Bhutan signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Intel Corporation. The first agreement was signed between the Secretary, Ministry of Information and Communications, Dasho Kinley Dorji, and Navin Shenoy, the Vice president and head of the Intel’s Asia Pacific region.

The second agreement was signed between Education Secretary, Aum Sangay Zam and Navin Shenoy. 

Under the MoU, Intel Corporation will provide 200 computers by March and April this year. The computers will be distributed to nine primary and community schools and a lower secondary school.

During the signing the Minister of Information and Communications Ministry, Lyonpo Nandalal Rai, said the collaboration with Intel will strengthen the government’s commitment to improve the education system.

He added the computers help reach the benefits of ICTs to the teachers and students in rural areas.
