October 07: His Majesty the King visited Kurtoe Dungkhar dzong, the seat of Jigme Namgyel, the father of the first King of Bhutan last week. His Majesty offered prayers and butter lamps in the inner chapel of the Dungkhar dzong for the peace and well being of the country and the people.
Upon arrival in Dungkhar, His Majesty the King was received by the Rabdey’s Lam Neten and monks.
Their Royal Highnesses the Princesses Ashi Sonam Dechan Wangchuck and Ashi Dechen Yangzom Wangchuck are accompanying His Majesty during this Royal Visit.
While in Dungkhar dzong, His Majesty granted audience to 83 youths who are beneficiaries of Royal Kidu. These beneficiaries are from the most vulnerable sections of society.
Speaking to them, His Majesty the King said that they should be willing to embrace challenges and hard work.
His Majesty said that it is important for every single youth to excel and to serve the nation.
The young beneficiaries of the Royal Kidu expressed their happiness and gratitude for His Majesty. They added that they would strive to excel in academics and would work hard to make their king and country proud.
After granting audience to the Lhuentse youth beneficiaries, His Majesty met with the students and teachers of Dungkhar Community Primary School. His Majesty joined the students for lunch at the school’s dinning hall.
Later, in the lawns of the Dungkar dzong, His Majesty met with the people of Kurtoe geog, hundreds of whom had gathered to offer their respect to His Majesty the King.
The people of Dungkhar said that they felt blessed to have interacted with His Majesty on this Royal visit. They also added that they were grateful and touched that His Majesty was touring the country to pray for the well being of the people and peace and prosperity of the nation.
Prior to visiting Dungkhar dzong, His Majesty the King met with the students and teachers of the Phuyum Higher Secondary School.
His Majesty joined the students for dinner at the school’s dinning hall.
