October 19: His Majesty the King granted an audience to the new IMTRAT commandant Major General K T Parnaik at the Tashichhodzong Yesterday.

He replaces Lieutenant General Avadhesh Prakash. He is an alumni of the National Defence College, Higher Command Course and the Defence Service Staff College.

His operational experiences include counter insurgency operations in North East and Jammu and Kashmir.

The new IMTRAT commandant has also commanded an infantry battalion and brigade in counter terrorism environment.

Major General K T Parnaik has also served as Additional Director General of military intelligence.

As an instructor, he has taught at the Indian Military Academy in Dehradun and in IMTRAT Bhutan.
