November 20: His Majesty the King granted an audience to the divisional commissioner of North Bengal Mr BL Meena and his delegation yesterday.


The delegation comprises of senior officials from the West Bengal government, the Sashastra Seema Bal, the Indian Embassy and the Ministry of External Affairs.

The 11 member delegation is in the kingdom to attend the 17th Border Districts Coordination Meeting (BDCM) held on Sunday.

The daylong meeting touched on various issues of mutual interests. These are the enhancement of security along the Indo Bhutan border to check the infiltration of Indian Insurgent groups and other anti social elements into Bhutan.

The meeting also deliberated on the need to identify a new entry and exit gate between Phuentsholing and Jaigaon. This is to ease traffic congestion and facilitate trade and the movement of people.
