August 20: His Holiness the Je Khenpo Trulku Jigme Choeda performed a Lhabsang Thruesel ceremony at the Paro International Airport.

The Lhabsang Thruesel ceremony for the two Air bus aircrafts, the hangar and the catering service building of Druk Air in Paro was held on Monday morning.

The Lhabsang Thruesel was conducted as part of the silver jubilee celebration of the Druk Air Corporation.

Druk Air began its service with Dornier aircrafts in 1983 gradually expanding to two jets and presently operating a fleet of Air Bus 319.

Tshering Penjore, the Commercial General Manager of Druk Air expressed his gratitude on behalf of the Druk Air and its staff to His Holiness for conducting the ceremony and blessing the staff.

He said the Druk Air’s 25 years of service is significant as it coincides with the historic events of 2008.

Tshering Penjore says the increase in the price of fuel, it is not the best of times for aviation. He said in the next few years, Druk Air would focus on consolidation and improving services rather than network expansion.
