March 31: His Holiness the Je Khenpo consecrated the Jigme Namgyal Nagtshang at Kurtoe Dungkar in Lhuentse yesterday.

The Nagtshang was the ancestral home of Trongsa Penlop Jigme Namgyal and the Royal family. It was restored recently.

Restoration works on the Jigme Namgyal Nagtshang at Kurtoe Dungkar in Lhuntse began in 2001 and was completed last year. Jigme Namgyal Nagtshang is located 40 kilometers north of proper Lhuentse.

Our reporter Kuenga Penjor says as part of the renovation, the entire wooden structure was overhauled.

According to Lhuentse Dzongda Kelzang Tshering the renovation was carried as part of centenary celebrations. The restoration was completed at a cost of Nu. 9.2 million.

While at Dungkar His Holiness the Je Khenpo also visited the Choejey Nagtshang and offered Thu-Mein and Cha-Dru. The Choejey Nagtshang was re-roofed as part of the restoration of Jigme Namgyal Nagtshang.

His Holiness the Je Khenpo is currently on a tour to the eastern Dzongkhags. Kurtoe Dungkar in Lhuentse is the ancestral home of the Royal family.
