April 4: His Holiness the Je Khenpo consecrated the first-ever Thongdrol of Tsangpa-Jarey in Trashiyangtse yesterday.

The Thongdrol is 39 feet high and 46 feet wide. It took two and half years to complete.

Our reporter Jigme Lhendup says more than 5,000 people came to receive blessings from the new Thongdrol.

His Holiness also consecrated a new serto and the goenkhang at the Trashiyangtse Dzong. The Thongdrol, goenkhang and serto were constructed to celebrate 100 years of Monarchy, the enthronement of the 5th King and the introduction of Democracy.

His Holiness will be presiding over a three-day Moenlam Chenmo beginning today.
