Her Majesty Ashi Sangay Choden Wangchuck and HRH Dasho Khamsum Singye Wangchuck arrives in Germany

Her Majesty the Queen Mother Ashi Sangay Choden Wangchuck and His Royal Highness Dasho Khamsum Singye Wangchuck have arrived in Germany for the opening of an exhibition Bhutanese textile.

They were accorded a traditional Bavarian welcome upon arrival at the Munich International Airport in Germany on the evening of November 19.

Her Majesty the Queen was received by Bavarian officials, the Honorary Consul of Bhutan in Germany, Dr. Wolfgang Pfeiffer, and Bhutan’s Ambassador to the Permanent Mission in Geneva, Sonam Tobden Rabgye, Secretary of the Nangsi Lengkhag Dasho Penden Wangchuk, Dasho Sangay Wangchuk, Ms. Barbara Steinle, Honorary Consul for the Kingdom of Thailand and Bhutanese participants at the Textile Festival.

Her Majesty the Queen Mother Ashi Sangay Choden Wangchuck is in Germany leading a delegation of officials, textile and performing artists to a grand opening of the Exhibition titled: Peaceful Dragon- Textile Art from the Kingdom of Bhutan in Germany.

The festival exhibition opens today at the Maximilian Museum in the ancient city of Augsburg.

The exhibition is organized by the Textile Museum of Bhutan under the patronage of Her Majesty the Queen Mother Ashi Sangay Choden Wangchuck and His Royal Highness Franz Von Bayern, the Duke of Bavaria, Germany.

The Textile Museum says the exhibition marks the international celebrations of the auspicious events of the Coronation of His Majesty Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck as the Fifth Hereditary King of Bhutan, the Centenary of the Bhutanese Monarchy and the successful transition to a full fledged parliamentary democracy this year.

The exhibition will also introduce Bhutan’s rich culture woven in the fabric of its resplendent textile to the people of Germany.
