December 5: To provide a structured basic computer course in government schools, the Department of School Education, Department of Information and Technology and the Microsoft Office in Bangladesh signed a memorandum of understanding in the capital on Monday, December 3.
The memorandum of understanding will allow the Department of School Education to use Microsoft IT curriculum in government schools.
Officials from the Department of School Education said they hope to introduce basic computer literacy course in all government schools across the kingdom.
Tenzin Chhoeda, the Director at the Department of Information Technology said the new IT curriculum includes lessons on word processing, spreadsheets, power point and internet.
Officials from the Department of School Education said the new IT curriculum will be implemented as a supplementary course for students who are already studying basic computer in higher secondary schools.
They said the curriculum is easy to use and interested students can use it to study information technology on their own.
