January 15: It now appears that Gasa dzongkhag will be able to hold the National Council election and that the seat for a member from Gasa in the National Council will not have to remain empty as it was envisaged.

Gasa dzongkhag had so far failed to nominate a candidate for the National Council elections.

But now we have affirmative reports that Gasa dzongkhag has a candidate for the National Council election due for 29th of this month.

The only candidate in Gasa, Sangay Khandu filed his nomination papers yesterday. Sangay Khandu is from Choling village under Goenkhatoe gewog.

29-year-old Sangay Khandu has a Master’s Degree in business administration from Assumption University in Bangkok, Thailand.

He worked as the Performance Manager with the Bhutan Power Corporation.
