Four accidents in a day

June 16: Four motor vehicle accidents were reported on Friday, June 13 alone.

Three accidents were reported in Thimphu. The fourth accident took place at Pelela.

Two men have been injured, one of them seriously, after the Maruti Alto they were traveling in toppled off the road at the junction towards the Dechenphodrang monastery.

One has been admitted in the Intensive Care Unit of the National Referral Hospital. The other man is also being treated at the national referral hospital.

The second accident was reported at Changangkha in the evening.

A Bolero jeep rammed into another Bolero jeep slamming the second jeep against the wall. There were no injuries.

In another incident, two taxis collided with each other at the junction near the swimming pool sports complex. Eye witnesses said the taxi coming from the back tried to overtake the other not knowing that the first taxi was trying to cut through the junction.

The fourth incident took place at the Pelela Pass between Wangdue and Trongsa.

Four people including two tourists were injured in the accident.

After initial treatment at the Bajothang hospital, they were referred to the National Referral Hospital in Thimphu. Traffic officials said carelessness is the number one cause of accidents.
