November 1: As Bhutan celebrates the coronation of His Majesty the King and the centenary of the monarchy, the sale of the national flag and ceremonial scarves Khadhars is growing.

Cashing in on the momentous occasion, two business houses have brought out national flags and special coronation Khadhars. The sale is expected to pick up as the coronation date draws close.

Rabsell Media Services is the sole distributor of special coronation Khadhars. The scarves are available in four different sizes- small, medium, large and premium.

Tshering Wangchuk, the General Manager of Rabsell Media Services said within a week, they have sold about 7000 coronation Khadhars.

Business has also been good for Peljorkhang Distributors which has brought out a special national flag. They sell embroidered national flags and screen printed national flags. While the screen printed flags cost Nu. 1,500, the embroidered ones cost Nu. 1,950.

The general manager of Peljorkhang, Omraj said most of the customers go for embroidered flags. So far they have sold out about 2000 pieces.
