Fire guts a house in Bumthang


November 17: A traditional Bhutanese house in Jakar, Bumthang has been razed to ground by fire on November 15.

Police told our reporter that they were informed about the fire at around 4:00 pm.

It took the police almost two hours to put off the fire with the help of the public and students of Jakar Higher Secondary School.

Our reporter Tandin Phuntsho said there was an elderly lady in the house at the time of the incident. She escaped unhurt.

The owner who was away lost all his belongings. Eyewitnesses told our reporter that the fire was seen spreading from the altar room
