September 04: A fire at a Changzamtog automobile workshop destroyed altogether about 13 business establishments including a canteen, a furniture workshop, an auto workshop, a resident cum restaurant and a maruti car beyond repair.

The fire started at around 9.15pm yesterday evening and lasted for more than three hours. The people living in the locality tried to bring it under control and salvaging what they can. They could not save much.

Within a short period of time the fire engulfed everything. According to a RBP spokesperson, the fire started from the car, mechanics were welding the car when sparks caught petrol spilled on the ground. The fire then spread quickly to the nearby sheds most of them constructed with timber. Three gas cylinders also exploded one after another from the temporary dwellings adding fuel to the fire.

About 13 business establishments including a canteen, a furniture workshop, the automobile workshop from where the fire started and a resident cum restaurant were destroyed by the fire.

Residents have lost everything they owned but fortunately there were no casualties.
