Electoral roll verification for NC election of Paro underway |
September 26: Paro dzongkhag is in the process of verifying the electoral roll for the National Council election. An electoral roll is a list of eligible voters who can vote in an election.
On Saturday the verification was carried out in Wangchang gewog.
The Dzongkhag Election Commission of Paro has completed verifying the electoral list of nine gewogs. Paro has 10 gewogs.
The draft voter list prepared during the mock election and the census record maintained by the dzongkhag and gewog administration show more than 16,000 eligible voters in the dzongkhag.
Out of that 3,000 have been listed as invalid voters during the verification. These include among others monks, nuns, and elderly people without ID card.
The list will be sent to Thimphu for further verifications. There are four candidates contesting in the National Council elections in Paro dzongkhag. |
