March 21: The Election Commission of Bhutan (ECB) says they have closed another 55 cases of allegations and complaints.
The cases relate generally to allegations of coercion, bribery, obstructions, objectionable statements, and involvement in political activities by those required to remain apolitical or above politics.
A news release from the Election Commission says an observer from each party was invited to observe the hearings conducted by the Election Dispute Settlement Body on cases which have been subsequently investigated.
The observers were given the opportunity to speak at the hearings and also to examine the evidence.
It says excluding cases which are being directly addressed by Election officials in the Dzongkhags, the Election Commission has registered 111 cases. 97 cases have been closed.
It says work on the other cases will continue even if they cannot be closed before the poll day. Election officials in the Dzongkhags and constituencies have been authorized and directed to take action based on reasoned and sound decisions. |
