July 30: The Netherlands is providing 10 million euros to Bhutan in the 10th five year plan.

The Secretary of GNH Commission Karma Tshiteem and the Ambassador of the Netherlands Bob Hiensch signed an agreement to this effect yesterday morning.

Within the framework of the budget support, the government of Bhutan and the government of the Netherlands will conduct annual policy consultations.

These consultations will focus on the transition to parliamentary democracy, local governance, and human resource development with special emphasis on health and education sector.

The Netherlands also supported the 9th plan through the Sustainable Development Agreement.

The support in the 9th five year plan focused on biodiversity conservation, rural development, capacity building, and preservation of the culture.
