Druknet to introduce broadband
September 25: If you are a dial up user and have been wishing for a speedier internet service, the first week of October has good news in store for you. Druknet, the internet service provider will provide broadband service in the first week of October.

For Druknet customers, this means a jump from the existing bandwidth of 56 kbps to 256 kbps.

In other words, web pages will load faster, downloads and uploads will be quicker.

Druknet has already finished installation works of the broadband service in Thimphu, Phuntsholing, Paro, Wangdue, Trongsa and Kanglung.

Druknet is carrying out trial tests at the moment.

The Officiating General Manager of Druknet Tshering Nidup said the introduction of Broadband service will benefit the dial up users the most by increasing the speed.

Samden Technology is one of the private internet service providers. Ronrig is the owner of Samden Technology. He said the introduction of broadband service by Druknet will encourage competition in the market and could also lead to price reduction.

Druknet is also in the process of upgrading their International bandwidth to bring faster internet service.

Currently Druknet provides internet service through lease line and dial up.
