Department of Local Governance re-established, DCC reconstituted

January 14: The government has approved the re-establishment of the Department of Local Governance under the Ministry of Home and Cultural Affairs. According to a news release from the Cabinet Secretariat, this is being done to strengthen local governance and to resolve issues pertaining to it.

It says the Royal Civil Service Commission (RCSC) will be directed to work towards meeting the man power requirement from the existing human resource in the civil service.

The government has also approved the reconstitution of Dzongkha Development Commission (DDC).

A news release says that Prime Minister will be the Chairperson and the Education Minister is the Vice Chairman.

The reconstituted Commission has nine members. These are the Labour and Human Resources Minister, the Vice Chancellor of the Royal University of Bhutan, a judiciary representative.

The others are the Director of the Department of Culture, the Director of the Institute of Language and Cultural Studies and Secretary of Dzongkhag Development Commission.
