August 8: A family at the Lower Market in Phuentsholing has been robbed of cash, jewelry and other valuables. The robbery took place in broad daylight around 10 am yesterday morning.
Our reporter Tenzin Wangda says miscreants took about Nu. 800,000 in cash and other valuables.
The housewife, who was alone at the time opened the door thinking it was the milkman.
Instead, a group of four youths appeared and held her at gunpoint and knives. The group threatened to kill her, unless she handed over the keys.
She said miscreants tied her to the bed post and locked her in a room. The woman said both her hands and legs were tied. She said she was able to free herself only after the miscreants left the apartment. The woman immediately informed the neighbours who called her husband. The incident has been reported to the Police.
The woman suspects the miscreants to be from across the border.
