July 1: The National Council member and Vice Chairperson, Dasho Karma Ura, has resigned.

Dasho Karma Ura is one the five eminent persons appointed by His Majesty the King to the National Council.

As an appointee of His Majesty the King, he submitted his resignation to His Majesty the King.

After his resignation was accepted, he submitted a letter to the Chairperson of the National Council, Namgye Penjore, on Wednesday informing him of the resignation.

The National Council has 25 members, 20 elected by the people from the 20 Dzongkhags and five appointed by His Majesty the King.

Dasho Karma Ura submitted his resignation to His Majesty and not to the NC chairperson as we earlier reported. We wrote our news based on information we got from the National Council Chairperson. The mistake is deeply regretted.  Chief Editor
