January 31: The Druk Pheunsum Tshogpa submitted its letter of intent and manifesto to the Election Commission yesterday.

The National Assembly election is scheduled for 24th March. The letter of intent was submitted by the Druk Phuensum Tshogpa's spokesperson Khandu Wangchuk to the Chief Election Commissioner Dasho Kunzang Wangdi yesterday morning.

A news release from the Election Commission says the submission of the letter of intent marks yet another milestone in the conduct of the first ever National Assembly elections in the Kingdom. It says the party can start campaigning after their election manifesto is accepted by the election commission.

The DPT Secretary Thinley Gyamtsho said the party will start campaigning from mid-February. The letter of intent was submitted along with the party manifesto, tentative list of candidates and campaign programme, financial statement, list of registered members and voluntary contributors.
