November 1: The President of Druk Phuensum Tshogpa met with the people of Chamgang gewog yesterday morning. Later in the afternoon, he met with the people of Chang Throm and Chang gewog.
More than 100 people attended the meeting in Chamgang.
The party president, Jigmi Y Thinley briefed the people on the democratization process, the rights and responsibilities of the people and the process leading to the formation of the government in 2008.
He said, for the democracy to be successful, people should understand their roles and responsibilities.
He said the people should to keep three things in their mind while casting their votes. He said the people should firstly understand the aims and objectives and the plans and policies of they party. They should also find out as much as they can about the candidates before deciding who they should vote for.
The Druk Phuensum Tshogpas gewog coordinator, Tshering Dorji, said most of the people could not attend the meeting because they are in their grazing land with their cattle.
Later in the afternoon the DPT president met with the people of Chang Throm and Chang gewog. More than 400 people attended the meeting.
The party president said most of the people in the country do not understand the democratization process and it is important to educate them.
He said which party wins the election next year is not as important. The ultimate winner should be the people he said. And the people, he said, would have won if they can fully understand the democratization process and their own role and responsibilities and elect a stable government which has best interest of the nation and the people at heart.
On Tuesday, the DPT president met with the people of mewang gewog. About 900 people attended the meeting.
