DPT members meet people of Monggar

October 13: An electorate fully aware of democratization process is important if democracy is to succeed in Bhutan, said the Druk Phuensum Tshogpa President, Jigmi Thinley. He was speaking to the people of Drametse and Ngatshang gewogs earlier this week.

Briefing the people of Drametse and Ngatshang gewogs, the President of the Druk Phuensum Tshogpa, Jigmi Thinley said the success of democracy entirely depends on the people and how wisely they vote.

He said it is important for voters to understand the party manifesto and know the party candidates before deciding who they should vote for.

He said they should also look at the party policies, aims and objectives. The Druk Phuensum Tshogpa President said it is important for people to attend the briefings of all the political parties.

He said it will enable them to understand what the different parties have to offer and make the right choice.

On Tuesday the members of the Druk Phuensum Tshogpa met the people of Tsamang, Chaling and Tsakaling gewogs.

Party members explained their party polices and strategies to the gathering.

Also during the meeting the party’s Monggar candidate was introduced to the people. Karma Lhamo, former teacher of Chukha Higher secondary school is Druk Phuensum Tshogpa’s Mongar constituency candidate.

DPT’s Bumthang candidates visit villages in the Dzongkhag

Meanwhile the Druk Phuensum Tshogpa’s Bumthang candidates are touring villages under the Dzongkhag.

Dr. Pema Gyamtsho, the former Deputy Resident Coordinator of Helvetas is Druk Phuensum Tshogpa’s candidate in Choekhor-Tang constituency.

Dungtsho Karma Wangchuk is representing the Chumey-Ura constituency.

On Thursday, they visited Dhur village under Chokhor gewog as part of their weeklong familiarization tour.

The candidates introduced themselves to the people and explained their party’s policies and strategies highlighting the importance of using their votes wisely.

The candidates will be visiting about 13 villages during the weeklong familiarization visit.

Meanwhile our reporter says like elsewhere in the kingdom, the people of Dhur gewog are acquainted with the election procedures but they are not familiar with the nuances of election.
