November 3: The Druk Phuensum Tshogpa President Jigmi Thinley said not many people seem to understand the democratization process. He said he is deeply concerned about this because ultimately the people must elect the government next year.
He was speaking at the DPT meeting with the people of Thimphu Throm yesterday.
More than 300 people from Thimphu Throm attended the meeting.
The DPT President, Jigmi Thinley, briefed the people on the democratization process, and the rights and responsibilities of the people.
He said he is worried because most people in rural areas do not seem to understand the political process. He said it is important to educate them.
The DPT president said it is important for the people to choose the right party. He said nobody should be compelled to vote for any particular party.
He asked the people to keep three things in their mind while casting their votes.
Firstly they should have a clear knowledge about the political parties.
Secondly they should understand the aims and objectives of the political parties and lastly they should know the candidates from all the constituencies.
