February 16: Druk Phuensum Tshogpa (DPT) officially launched their campaign yesterday at the Sherubling Higher Secondary School in Trongsa. The campaign was launched by the party president Jigmi Thinley.

Launching their campaign, the DPT President Jigmi Thinley reminded the people of their sacred duty to vote. He said the responsibility of electing a capable government and leaders who have the interest of the people in their mind lies entirely in the hands of the people. He said if the elected leaders are not capable and competent enough, they will not be able to serve the people.

DPT President Jigmi Thinley said the people should vote carefully to elect the right party. He said people should learn as much as they can about the plans and policies of the two parties to know their capability. He said the people should ask all their friends and family members living in different parts of the country how the party candidates are conducting themselves.

He said the party is more important than the candidate. He said since the candidates will be working under the party, it is the party which must decide in the end.

The DPT President concluded his talk by urging the people not to allow money power to decide the fate of the party in the forthcoming elections.

Copies of the party manifesto were then distributed to the people. Party candidates, members, supporters, and local people attended the launch.
