DPT President briefs people of Ramjar Gewog, Trashi Yangtse

October 04: The Druk Phuensum Tshogpa’s President Jigmi Thinley met with the people in Ramjar Gewog under Trashi Yangtse yesterday. About 700 people attended the meeting.

On Tuesday, he met with the people of Khamdang and Toetsho gewogs. More than 1,000 people attended the meeting in Khamdang. The DPT President Jigme Thinley briefed the gathering on the functioning of democratic form of government stressing on the importance of electing capable leaders.

He said if democracy is to succeed, the public must elect leaders who are not only capable but have the interest of the nation in their heart and mind.

Apart form talking about party politics, the DPT President also introduced the Druk Phuensum Tshogpa candidate for Khamdang-Ramjar-Toetsho constituency Kezang Wangdi, a former audit official.

On the same day, the gewog coordinator of the People’s Democratic Party conducted a meeting in Shali under Khamdang Gewog. About 60 people attended the meeting.

Druk Phuensum Tshogpa party workers said the meeting was organized to prevent the people from attending their meeting.

The PDP’s gewog coordinator, Sangay Tempa denied this. He said the meeting was organized to prepare for the visit of the PDP President.

Meanwhile party workers are putting their logos on houses in the villages. Am Ganimo, a villager, said the party logo has been pasted on her door by some tshogpas. She said she doesn’t know what the logo stands for.
