July 23: The consecration ceremony of Jangchub chorten at Na-kay-thang in Lhuentse concluded on Monday.
The ceremony was presided over by His Holiness the Je Khenpo. Lam Netens of Lhuentse, Pemagatshel, Trashigang, Trashiyantgse, Monggar and monks of Lhuentse Rabdey performed the three day consecration ceremony.
The Chorten, which is 51 feet tall and 27 feet wide, was constructed as part of the centenary celebrations, the coronation of His Majesty the King and the success of democracy.
Thousands of people from in and around Lhuentse gathered at Na-kay-thang yesterday as they rabney ceremony of the Jangchub chorten concluded. Government offices and schools and instates in the dzongkhag remained closed on the final day of the ceremony.
The Chorten was constructed at a cost of over Nu. 2 million.
Initiated by the Dzongkhag administration and the rabdey, the funds were donated by the public and private individuals.
