February 1, 2008: The Bhutan Board of Examinations (BBE) will declare the class X results this afternoon.
Thinley Dorji of Yangchenphug Higher Secondary School has topped the class X examination with 92.60%.
Tshering Penjore of Motithang Higher Secondary School came a close second with 92.40%.
In the third position is Gitanjali Lamichaney of Motithang Higher Secondary School. She scored 89.40%.
The results will be available in the Education Ministry’s website www.education.gov.bt/exam/bcse.asp and www.druknet.bt from 3pm today.
A total of 7,924 candidates from 52 schools sat for the class X (Bhutan Certificate of Secondary Education Examination) in December 2007. Of that 95.57% passed the examination which is 3.62% higher than the 2006 pass percentage of 91.95%.
The cut off point for admission to class XI in government schools has been decided at total marks of 291 or 58.2% with English plus four best subjects.
3,037 students will get entry into class XI in government schools which is a 10% increase over the last year.
