City Gateway not materialised

March 07: The modern transport terminal in Olakha was long planned in 2003. According to the plan, the gateway will have room for about 150 buses, taxi stands and shopping centres. For this, the City Corporation needs to acquire at least six acres of land.

The City Corporation has already met with the landowners three times but to no avail. The residents of Olakha are not willing to accept the Nu. 109,000 offer for a decimal of land.

The landowners want to build the required infrastructure and rent it out through a public-private partnership.

The City Corporation says they need to wait for the Road Safety and Transport Authority (RSTA) to work out on it or other alternatives to relocate the plan. RSTA says the issue needs further discussion.
