Chokhor gewog's NC candidate- Jigme Palden |
November 22: A former lecturer of the College of Natural Resources, Jigme Palden has been nominated as the National Council candidate of Chokhor Gewog in Bumthang.
He was nominated at a Gewog meeting on Tuesday.
42-year-old Jigme Palden graduated from Sherubtse College in Kanglung, Tashigang in 1991.
He has a Masters degree in Forestry.
He also worked as a Park Manager at the Royal Manas National Park.
Speaking at the meeting, Jigme Palden said if elected he will serve the country and people with utmost dedication. He told our reporter Tandin Phuntsho that he left his secure and salaried job to serve the people of his community better.
There are 4200 eligible voters in Chokhor Gewog. However, only over 500 people turned up for the meeting. When asked if the poor turn out reflects less support for him, Jigme Palden said he is not sure of the support from the people of other gewogs, but he said, he will find out during the campaign period.
