September 5: A Chhodey Lhentshog under the chairmanship of the Minister of Home and Cultural Affairs has been established. This follows the approval of the Lhengye Zhungtshog.
According to a news release from the Cabinet Secretariat the establishment of the Chhodey Lhentshog is as per the requirement of the Religious Organizations Act of Bhutan.
The Act was passed by the 87the session of the National Assembly held in June last year.
The act was enacted to provide for the registration and administration of religious organizations and to protect and preserve the spiritual heritage of Bhutan.
A desk responsible for the day to day affairs of the Lhentshog will be established at the Department of Culture.
The Director of the Department will serve as the member secretary.
