December 13: A Dzongkha Honours graduate from Sherubtse College, Yeshey Pelzang, topped the Civil Service Common Examination (CSCE) this year. 721 graduates, including 153 technical graduates, sat for the examination.
Drungtsho Sonam Tobgay from the National Institute of Traditional Medicine topped the examination among the technical graduates.
Yeshey Pelzang scored 72.24% to top the CSCE. This is the second consecutive year that a graduate from Sherubtse College topped the Civil Service Common Examination.
A geography honours graduate, Thinley Wangdi, also from Sherubtse College, came second. He scored 69.30%.
Tshering Lham, a B.Sc general graduate from Acharya Institute in Bangalore was third with 67.37%.
Yashey Pelzang, who topped the CSCE, said given the choice he would like to join the Planning Commission.
Thinley Wangdi, the second topper expressed interest in joining the Agriculture Ministry.
Sonam Tobgay who topped the CSCE among the technical graduates said he will be joining the Health Ministry which is related to his field of study.
Talking to BBS, the toppers pointed out hard work and perseverance as their secret to success. There is no short cut to success they said.
Officials from the Royal Civil Service Commission said the technical graduates have performed well this year with more than 20 graduates scoring over 70%. The selection and job placement for the selected graduates will be held at RIM at Simtokha today. |
