December 21: A daily bus service has been introduced between Samdrup Jongkhar and Gelephu. The bus service was introduced by the State Transport Corporation in Assam, India at the request of the Gelephu chapter of the Bhutan India Friendship Association (BIFA).

Our Samdrup Jongkhar reporter Damcho Wangchuk says as the bus arrived packed with passengers yesterday, it was received by BIFA Secretary Kezang and the members of the association.

The 31 seater bus runs directly between the Indian town of Dadghari near Gelephu and Darranga near Samdrup Jongkhar. It will benefit passengers traveling between Gelephu and Samdrup Jongkhar.

Previously they traveled to Phuentsholing and after making a night halt there, continued on their journey.
