Bumthang Thromdey Thuemi cleared of accusations

December 27: After over a month of investigation by the Dzongkhag Inquiry Committee, the allegations made against the Thromdey Thuemi of Bumthang were found to be untrue.

Earlier last month 16 business people in Bumthang submitted a written complaint against Yeshey Wangchuk to the Dzongkhag Administration. He was accused of not maintaining proper financial records of the money collected from the business community and the collection made for the payment of town sweeper.

A news release from the Dzongkhag Administration says while investigating some complainants withdrew while some said they signed the written complaint without knowing anything about it.

The news release says Yeshey Wangchuk can continue to work as Thromdey Thuemi. However, Yeshey Wangchuk and the former Thromdey Thuemi Pema Khandu have to submit accounts of money collected from the business community members to the Dzongkhag Administration. This should be done within three days after the issuance of office order.

Four of the complainants who did not turn up for the meeting organized by the Dzongkhag Administration as part of the investigation have to submit a statement explaining the reasons.

The other 12 will be warned by the Dzongkhag Administration.
