December 1: Thimphu residents can now deposit or withdraw money from the Bank of Bhutan (BoB) even on Sundays. This has been made possible with the launching of the Sunday banking service yesterday, November 30. The facility will also be available for Bank of Bhutan clients in Phuentsholing and Gelephu.

The service will be available from 9:30 am in the morning till 1:30 in the afternoon.

The new service was launched by the Finance Minister Lyonpo Wangdi Norbu. He said the service will benefit customers who are busy during the weekdays.

The bank also has plans to initiate similar services in other branch offices across the country.

The Managing Director of Bank of Bhutan Kuenga Tshering said they have plans to introduce other services like Core banking system. With this system in place, customers can use the same bank account to withdraw and deposit money in other BoB branch offices.

BOB also launched its new corporate logo. Earlier this year, the bank launched numerous loan schemes. The bank is 40-years-old and has 600 employees.
