Bhutanese students make robot

June 10:
Final year students from the College of Science and Technology showcased various gadgets including a robot and a model of an electric train.

By demonstrating what they have learnt so far.

Their inventions include a robot which among others can follow traffic lights and run along a track. The students said the robot can be used for collecting information or repair things in places where it is not possible for humans to enter for instance in the event of a disaster in a chemical factory.

Like the robot, the electric train model was also well received by the people who had come to attend the demonstration.

Another model showcased how home lighting could be achieved in a simple way. Called the fabrication of Pico Hydel Plant, it consists of a water hose and a generator that connects the electrical lighting appliances.

The project works by harnessing the energy from gushing water to produce electricity. Students said it requires meticulous planning and precise hands to work on projects like these.
