Bhutan-India development cooperation talks begin
|
December 13: The Bhutan–India development cooperation talks began today in the Indian capital New Delhi.
The Bhutanese delegation is led by the Foreign Secretary Yeshey Dorji and the Indian delegation is led by Joint Secretary North of the External Affairs Ministry Ms. Preeti Saran.
A news release from the Foreign Ministry says, the talks will review Government of India assisted projects in the 9th five year plan.
It will also discuss Bhutan-India development cooperation in the 10th plan.
India is Bhutan’s largest development partner contributing approximately 25% of the total 9th plan outlay.
Some of the major projects funded by India in the 9th plan are the construction of the national referral hospital and the Monggar regional referral hospital, the widening of the Phuentsholing-Babesa highway and Chunzom-Paro highway, and construction of farm roads, schools, low income housing and the youth development center. |
